Methinks Wolkentanz II is proving to be a good broodmares sire. I seem to be seeing his name with some frequency on the bottom line of the pedigree, as well as the top.

they way these horses move is god awful. however, i will say that it would be interesting, to see, beyond the draw reins (which can be seen in thi pic) what exactly are they doing to these horses to get them move like saddle seat horses?
i can only hope that the popularity of this type of end product will decrease and a more natural result come back into favor.

Have to partially agree with you there in regards to dressage overall, but I do like the first video. It looks to me like he’s really trying to get the horse to step under and move through his body and be light in front.

Curious, are you saying that EG does not school his young horses in draw reins? I wish I could find the video, but there was a poster on here a while ago who posted some video of EG schooling a 3 year old behind the scenes and the horses chin was on it’s chest with the shortest/tightest draw reins I ever saw.

I have no idea if he does or not and didn’t see that video. Given how bunched up the entire bodies of horses he rides seem to be, I wouldn’t be at all surprised.
But I didn’t see draw reins in the specific quoted link and thought maybe I was just missing them somehow.

?? they are clearly visible in the pic posted above… but even without that pic, there are many pics available (i believe video too) of them riding in DR. i thought it was standard fare for them?
eta: went back and double checked that pic, and to me it looks like DR on the horse on the right, however, it could be lines on the photo i suppose.
but it isnt like them riding in DR is any secret, and it wasn’t even my main question and that was: how do they train their horses to move pretty much like saddle seat horses?

Here’s a video at his training facility. It’s not him on the DR horse, but it’s similar to the video of him I saw. EG is visible schooling another horse in the background in a similar way in a double.
those horses are so utterly locked in their bodies 
I dont see saddle seat.
If a trainer wants to use a martingale or draws for young horses so be it, what business is it of yours if you have no horses with said trainer?

Dressage is quickly becoming a discipline where they crucify the nearest top rider, and then post an old stiff trainer doing a piaffe (“Back in the day we were perfect…”
Its terribly unsupportive of the discipline…
