Does anyone have any feedback on the Pressure Relief Comfort Girth by Correct Connect ? Also wondering how it might compare to the StretchTec Shoulder Relief Girth
We’re using it on a horse who gets rubs right behind the elbow. We can position it so the girth doesn’t contact there (where the elastic creates a space). Has been working great for this purpose. I can’t really see a difference other than that in this particular horse’s comfort, though.
What issue are you trying to resolve?
I was mildly curious about them but I haven’t seen one in person yet. I did buy a TSF Stretch-Tech girth and returned it. The fit was just too funky on my horse, but that’s a YMMV type of thing.
Compared to the Correct Connect, they’re quite different girths in a few ways, IMO, so what are you looking for in a girth?
Nothing in particular…I’m just always looking for ways to improve their comfort …I own a couple of the regular TSF girths for my hunter /jumper saddles as well as the stretch and the stretchtec dressage girth …my saddle fitter suggested those to me years ago to help with any saddle shifting or sliding for my wide/ barrel shaped no wither horses …which for that purpose they are great !
I am also interested in opinions. It’s one of the few girths that comes in larger sizes in brown leather.
I have one, I got it very lightly used via FB last month, with the sheepskin pads. I really like it! My horse is girthy due to a history of ulcers and poor fitting saddle, and I have seen some improvements in using the Correct Connect girth. It wasn’t a “magic bullet” for us by any means, but she seems comfortable with it.
I haven’t found any slipping problems (but our riding right now is very light and only flat work).
I’m not sure I’d be inclined to pay full price for it (I’m Canadian and very budget-conscious) but since I got it used for a great deal, I’m really happy with it.
I was wondering about these girths. I need to replace a Tapestry girth and am trying to decide if I should get another Tapestry or get this one from Correct Connect.
I’m a low level eventer and use CC comfort girths for both of my saddles. I’m pretty sure my horse likes them, I have the leather pads for summer and use the fleece in the winter. CC has videos on fit and are super helpful if you have any questions. Note that I have an OTTB who is on the chunky side … not a big moving warmblood. Haven’t had issues with the girth slipping.
I have it and I love it. My PRE gelding goes really well in it and we have no problems with slipping. It feels stable and well cushioned at the same time.
The only downside-- and it’s minor-- the leather flaps that Velcro wrap over the buckles are hard for me to open and close from the saddle for girth tightening during the ride.
But the wraps make it look nice in photos, I like the design visually it’s just a challenge when leaning over upside down.
I just got one! I got it because it is similar to the WOW freespace girth in concept, which I got for one horse and really love, and I wanted to try something similar for my other. It also comes in a 36" which is nice for me.
Overall I really like it. I like it more than the Stretchtec one - which I had before and sold. My horse didn’t go any better in it.
The benefit of the Correct Connect one from what I understand compared to the TSF one is that the plate holds the pressure on the sternum, whereas the TSF one has elastic there. WOW does this as well, relieving pressure on the muscles on the sides of the sternum.
Like the WOW FS girth, my usually girthy horse isn’t as girthy. She has 0 reaction with the WOW girth, and maybe 10% of normal with the CC one. The leather on the CC one isn’t great, it’s very similar to TSF. The WOW one is plush (but also a lot more expensive so it should be). The fuzzy faux sheepskin is soft, and the cover over the buckles is nice and works well. My only complaint is that the elastic makes you tighten it more than non elastic.
ETA: like the WOW girth, I have a lot less saddle slippage than with “normal” girths.
Thanks for the reviews. If I move enough inventory at the tack sale this weekend I will probably order it.
Not to side track too much but would you buy the WOW over the CC or do you feel the CC is good enough to not warrant the extra $$$ for the WOW?
Ok so, for my potato shaped horse - I would buy the FS again. I have major slippage issues with my (correctly fitting) saddle due to her huge shoulder and lack of withers. I think the no-elastic helps for her, as I don’t have to crank it as much. I did get it on eBay for around $200, but I would buy it full price now that I have it and love it.
For mare #2 who is wide, but has withers and no saddle slip issues, I’m very happy with the CC. I like the padding under the buckles (WOW has these for sale, but they’re extra), and overall design. I am now planning to use this instead of my mattes girth for her, as the shape on that one was a little tight in the elbows - I had bought it for the roly poly in “athletico” shape. Both mares are size 36-38” so I have very few options in girths.
WOW does offer a faux leather option for around $300 instead of $430 (todays’s GBP to USD) which I am sure is fine in quality. I generally prefer leather but it’s a pretty big price difference.
I will add - my round horse is stretching down and out in warmup and taking big breaths earlier in my ride since changing girths. This is totally new for her so is definitely due to the change. I normally can’t get a real stretch until the end of my ride.
I’ve been eyeing this girth for my Arabian gelding. He’s built like a steamer trunk. Flat back, straight sides, and he is 14.1. Lots of issues with saddles rolling and of dressage girths making galls. Enough so I’ve given up on a dressage saddle and flat in my jump saddle.
I’m not sure it would go small enough though.
Well for that purpose of saddle shifting & sliding I really do like the TSF shoulder relief girths along with my Gel Eze pad placed directly on the back & over the withers first …then saddle pad then saddle
I have one. I like it - it doesn’t ride up into my horse’s elbows. He’s not particularly sensitive, but he seems to like it more than the leather girth I was using. I don’t feel compelled to over-tighten it the way I did the TSF. It’s not the most beautiful girth, but mine has held up really well. The pads are easy to wash and clean up well.
