Prestige - Dressage and Jump Saddle comparison

So I have decided I’m going to start looking casually for a new dressage saddle.

Two years ago I bought a Prestige Roma Jump saddle, 18" and 33cm tree.

This saddle needed absolutely no adjustment, fit my horse as best as it could from a factory from day one, it was a great success after a 6 month search for a jump saddle. My TB isn’t the easiest to fit unfortunately.

So I’ve decided to stick to the same brand saddle. Figured I was best to post in the Eventing forum as many of us have two saddles to work with.

So I ask you, am I safe to continue to look at saddles that are 33cm in dressage saddles? Knowing the jump saddle is a 33cm tree, there shouldn’t be a difference in fit should there be? I’ll be looking at used only, as I would rather have a decent saddle at a lower cost, than brand new, lower cost.

I also am more interested in a 17" (fits like 17.5" seat) for a dressage saddle. My current no name saddle is an 18" and It doesn’t hold me like a lovely Amerigo would.

Thoughts on this?

You should be fine sticking with the 33cm. Both of my saddles (jump and dressage) are Prestige and I love them. I bought my jump saddle first and then used the same measurements when I went to purchase the Prestige Roma for dressage. Happy saddle shopping!

Yes, but… I found my Eventer fit differently than the Top - same seat size, same tree size, but they just fit differently.

I love my Eventer, the Top was just meh for me.

How do you like the Dressage Roma?

Do you stick? lol I’m looking for sticky. I want something to hold me in!

I’m worried about buying older, as they will be more slippery.

You can always talk to someone at prestige about which of their saddles are built on a similar tree to the one that fits and go from there. They are adjustable 1-2 cm each way as well so if you see a great price on a used one that is a different size know that. Good luck!

I slid out of the newer dressage saddles. Lol…
Like right off the back. I tried the optimax and galeleo. No bueno for me.
The Amerigo is also upswet but I didn’t slide out of that one…

IMO I like the older prestige dressage saddles more. Wasn’t there one called a D2?

Also, the dressage sales for true to seat size. I wouldn’t go down. My dressage size is an 18 but my prestige eventer is a 17".

I’ve seen a lot of 2000’s for sale. I’ve never sat in a Prestige Dressage. We have The Royal Winter fair coming up, but I don’t think there are many Prestige dealers in Canada that will even have any at The Royal. I would just like to sit in a bunch.

Emailing Prestige about their trees is a great idea, I’ll get on that for sure!

The knee blocks on the Dressage Roma look massive. The current saddle I have practically has none, they’re very small, so I’m worried about the big jump.

I also asked my saddle fitter and they said best to stick with 18" if I am in an 18" for my jump saddle. Maybe with bigger knee blocks I would be held in more unlike my current saddle.

Have the prestige galelo love it for my welsh cob and myself I’m 5’11"! I don’t think it’s slippery but my dressage trainer does. She always sprays it with sticky spray!

Would love to try one of their jump saddles.
