Prestige Stallions - Fraud?

Hi Everyone,

I am new to the site & fairly new to the racing industry. Has anyone had any experiences with Prestige Stallions or Richard Haisfield? I am owed money from them (& have been trying to get the money for months now) & cannot seem to get ahold of anyone & don’t know how to proceed. I have a contract that is signed by Mr. Haisfield but after doing more research it seems as if he tends to not pay anyone. I had contact with a lady named Alice who was the office manager but she apparently quit so I cannot get anyone to return calls or emails.

I have also heard from others that they currently are standing/advertising a stallion that they have not payed the owner for & do not have the actual Jockey Club papers for that horse. That owner also has not been able to get ahold of Mr. Haisfield & still hasn’t been paid any of his agreed upon money.

Any advice on how to proceed? I really wonder how people like him can continue to do this stuff & not get in more trouble or have any serious consequences. The more I find out about Mr. Haisfield the more he sounds like a very untrustworthy person.

Thanks so much for any help or advice!

If you are unaware of the Haisfelds’ dealings in Kentucky, here’s more information for you.

Why are you asking us and not a local lawyer? And why did you sign a contract with Alice the office manager?

OP said the contract was signed by Mr Haisfield and that she had been in contact with the office manager, Alice.

I would concur, time to contact an attorney.

Thank you all for the insights! When signing the contract with Mr. Haisfield I was aware of some of his past issues but the situation at the time didn’t allow me to be picky. Alice was the main point of contact & then Mr. Haisfield would occasionally return calls which has since ended.

With the stallion they have but don’t own (haven’t paid the agreed price so previous owner still has papers) would they even be able to register the foals with the Jockey Club? Seems like the more research I do into Mr. Haisfield the more shady business I come across.

I will look into attorneys in the Ocala area & proceed with that plan.

Thanks so much!

You might want to contact the Jockey Club. They would be the best ones to tell you what they will do in that situation.
