Price of new CWD saddles
Did you guys try to negotiate?

I’d be surprised if your reps had no room for negotiation - they want to make the sale.
I know I did, especially since they’d just finished an end of the year promotion where they threw in a girth for free…

Nothing I can do about it now, just don’t understand how there can be so much variability when it comes to their promotions.

Man I bought mine used for $3k and they still tossed in a cover and soap/conditioner and a hat. If I spent almost double that on a new Id be peeved to get the same freebies

Maybe how much leeway they have in giving away fittings impacts their commissions? That would explain why there would be a discrepancy between reps.

Don’t know if a rep will tell you this, and it’s not what you’re asking, but I was really glad my rep told me so here goes:

The 2Gs don’t hold up well to daily riding. They are meant to be a “show saddle” or for those people that ride once or twice a week and don’t use their saddles hard. If you want a saddle to last a long time and have a better resale, don’t go with the 2G. I assume reps work on commission so may be pushing the 2G, but hopefully yours will discuss this with you as mine did.

**no need to tell me anecdotal stories about how great the 2Gs are. This came straight from the horse’s mouth. :-)
WOW. Why would anyone purchase a saddle that is suitable for riding once twice per week?? And at that price!? That is CRAZY. Thanks CWD for the information… I have heard plenty of stories about problems with the 2G, including the fact that the pros that ride in them have to have them replaced regularly due to horses’ sore backs.

Is there a particular saddle that is making horses backs sore other than the 2G, 2Gs and mademoiselle? Do/are all their saddles known to makes horses back sore? I have tried one and it definately made my own back sore, i cant imagine what they do to the horses.

As a CWD 2Gs owner, my 2Gs does not make either of my horses’ back sore. My guys move much better in this particular saddle than other brands due to the carbon fiber tree. My horses’ chiropractor even mentioned how much looser my horses’ back muscles were in comparison to when I was using my old saddle. It is just a good fit for us. I know what you’re thinking, and no, I am not sponsored or associated with CWD. I’m just a customer who is offering my experiences with my 2Gs and the knowledge I have gained from a saddle fitter.

Any saddle can make a horse back sore if it doesn’t fit them properly - that is just fact. I don’t think that CWD saddles make horses back sore any more than any other brand on average. Yes, CWD saddles can make some horses’ back sore, but so can a Butet or Antares if it doesn’t fit the horse correctly, which does happen since there is no one-size-fits-all brand. Different saddles work for different horses. To combat this, CWD does offer the pro-panels, but honestly who can expect one saddle to fit the dozens of horses a trainer will ride? That is simply not realistic, and that is probably where some of the claims of CWDs causing sore backs have come from - a not so glorious horse and saddle match-up.

I also don’t think there is any one model of CWD saddles that makes a horse more back sore than the other. Like I stated above - it all depends on the shape of the horse. No two horses are the same, so no one brand or saddle model will fit every horse and rider on the planet. Saddles are tricky business.
