Prices of Totilas offspring?

With 2011 upon us, the arrival of Totilas offspring is nearing. I, amongst many others, are anxious to see what Totilas will produce.

So, I have to wonder; what will the asking prices of these offsrping be? How much will the in-utero prices be? How much will the foals be once they hit the ground?

Does anyone know?

Does depend on their quality. Noone pays for pedigree only…

I’m pretty sure I read on here about someone in Europe paying something like 35k Euro for an in utero.

When they buy in-utero they do

35k Euro for an in utero

Oh yeah! I seem to recall that is was at an auction?

So true!! Not to mention, some people have been known to purchase and import young horses and mares simply based on pedigree.

yes but very few people in europe buy in-utero. That is a very american thing to do. They might buy a mare in foal but not a foal in-utero

Yes a foal - and for foals people in Germany buy what they see not for what is written somewhere such as a pedigree. (A good pedigree helps for sure, but if the foal is not good - no way it sells for more than 3000 just because it is by Totilas)

In utero is very very uncommon here. And buying mares on pedigree only also not to be found. Even buying on video/photo only is very very uncommon over here !

Yet, wasn’t it two German women who bought the Totilas embryo for so much money?

that could be, but in utero is not that common in normal sale and purchase over here

Well, Germany is quite a bit smaller than the United States, for example, so it is presumably easier to hop in a car to see horses in person there. Also, Europeans seem to have no qualms about routinely selling based only on photos/video to buyers here  Admittedly, I have no issue with purchasing in that manner provided I know the seller and/or someone I trust knows the horse in question. If the horse is very nice, that should be apparent fairly quickly.

well but that was not the question how we sell and how americans buy. The question was how much foals would cost and i can talk for the fellow Germans that I know and am 100% sure that 99,99% would not buy in utero and also not without seeing the foal (or buy seen by trusted friend).
