Pricing a horse

I come from the expensive Arabian world so I don’t really have a sense of what a good priced horse is so I thought I would write up a few scenarios and see what people would pay for them to try to help me get an idea of how people decide how to price their horse reasonably, not for a quick sale but so they will sell at some point. Assuming all have average conformation and have ability for more

57 is a few??!!!

Pricing depends on more than just age and breed. Size? Temperament? Scores? Rideability?

You can’t just take a list of 57 generalities and assign a price to each.

The selling price for a horse is what the seller and the buyer agree to…which may or may not be related to the “list price.”

There is no Blue Book for horses. I see you posted a nearly identical thread in H/J and eveneing. Maybe spend some extensive time looking at online For Sale ads to develop a feel for pricing, then engage the services of a trusted professional to help you if you are getting ready to buy.

For OP - FEW = consisting of or amounting to only a small number , compliments of the Merriam-Webster dictionary.

OP, you cannot be serious.

I suggest you spend some time reviewing sale ads. Look at DressageDaily.com and Dressage.Sporthorsemarket.com. You can also filter for dressage horses on Warmblood-Sales.com.

Or $1-$10 million.

Anywhere from “wow, what a steal!” to “you paid how much for that thing?”

This is the kind of answer I was looking for, I’ve seen so many non-horsey people ask this so I wanted this to be something they could look at to see the gigantic range. I honestly didn’t expect anyone to even read the whole post and expected more trashing lol Sorry the way I posted it was confusing, I honestly didn’t mean for it to be. I wasn’t quite sure how to ask this to get an answer I was looking for. The things above are a summery of things I’ve seen, thank you so much for taking the time to post this!

Arabians are good horses. Depends on what you mean by good. Are Arabians all priced the same, or do various factors come into play in determining the pricing? Same principle applies for all the good horses out there.

Yeah, just direct them here for the answer, or just explain it to them.

Good horses are not just suitable for summer, but also suitable for the other three seasons.
