I found this to be a remarkable thing, as Princess Anne is 72 years old and still really a badass equestrian to ride in this grand procession and lead the military contingent of the coronation. For those who wonder where does the bight go, why hold the reins in the left hand, etc the answers are here I think in the photo. The right hand is kept free to draw the sword, which hangs on the left, and the bight goes on the right so as not to become entangled. The Royal family always continues to demonstrate the horsemanship that is part of their heritage.
And to salute. If you notice, as the ride past The Cenotaph, they salute fallen servicemen
Thanks for the information.
Now, that flat brim hat is a killer.
It is a Bicorn with plume significant to her military rank
Looks nicer from the last side angle, with the large gold emblem there.
When she walked in to The Abbey, and she was so tall and elegant,I said Yes Anne, yes maam, you go. She is a stunning figure of strength
I’m so glad to see these posts. I was watching by myself this morning, saw her riding, and thought, there goes a total badass.
I loved her plume that blocked Prince Harry’s face in the church video.
Did anyone else see the riders playing instruments? A poor guy was riding and carrying a small tuba; I wonder how often their teeth get wacked when the horse gets a bit jiggy, unless they only play when standing still. I used to play the flute and am lucky to have never chipped a tooth in marching band.
I mentioned in another thread- the trombone players!! And yes they were riding forward. Here is video of the Household Cavalry band.
She’s another role model like her sister when comes to riding horses until the end. Love that bridle, the headstall (over the poll) is soooo cool.
She is Queen Elizabeth’ daughter, not sister.
I think she would have made an amazing queen. Born second to Charles, though, and I am not sure if she would have become queen even if she had been born first. Not sure how the rules work.
I remember reading that the rules were changed recently from the first born male being the heir and females only inheriting if there were no boys, to the heir being the first born regardless of gender. So according to the rules of the time Charles would have been the heir no matter what order they were born.
With the current family this won’t be relevant until at least Prince George’s children unless something happens.
And the idiot commentator on NBC kept calling it a fascinator. o.m.g. Do you not do ANY research before you open your mouth?
