I got a probiotic for my dog as recommended for my vet (Omega Alpha probiotic 8 plus). The problem with my dog is she doesn’t eat regularly. Sometimes she does, sometimes she doesn’t. So I can’t hide meds in her food because she may not eat it. Do you guys think I could dissolve the probiotic into water and syringe it to her? I was hoping to find a liquid version but no such luck, just powder.
Is it most important that she gets the probiotic with food, so pt it on her food and she’ll eat it when she eats it? Or most important that she gets the probiotic daily whether she eats that day or not?
We are hoping the probiotics will help with some stomach/gut issues and eventually get her eating better.
I would not be inclined to do the syringe route. Don’t know your dog, but mine would hate that after about the third day. Also easy to spit out.
Is there anything “special” that she really likes? For example, my family had a boxer years ago who was an unenthusiastic eater. He did, however, love mac and cheese. So my mother would often top off his dog food with a scoop of that.
If you could find something like that to sprinkle it on, I’d go that route. Otherwise I’d sprinkle on the food.
I think I’d also check back w/ vet to ask the questions re frequency and need to have w/ food.
