I just saw this thread after getting back from a vacation–sorry for the lack of an earlier response here. I’ve forwarded the thread to the publisher to see what’s going on and he or I will report back ASAP!
I can assure you, however, in the meantime, that the free subscription offer is not an attempt at a “bait-and-switch” and the folks at the office will be making every effort to remedy any problems users may be experiencing with the promotional offer.

Must be a scam…never worked for me 
hopefully they fix it…if I like what I see during the 3 month freebie, I may subscribe. I won’t if I don’t get to see it though.
When I filled in the survey I didn’t get a confirmation that it had actually gone through. Nothing came through my email, but when I tried to do the survey again, it said you couldn’t do it twice…
Ditto here. I didn’t get the confirmation either, and couldn’t send the survey in again. Even sent an email in…no response.

SO sorry for the problem. Hardly a scam! Just a technical glitch. As the publisher, I deeply regret the confusion, and I’m on it as we speak with a flashlight in the programmer’s ear to figure it out. Believe me, it will be fixed and reparations made. After all, you guys are our future, and I plan to protect your interests. Anyone who is interested may email me with a mailing address and I’ll send today’s Amateur Issue (a whooper!) to you so you can see the printed issue while we fix the glitch. I’m rbanner@chronofhorse.com. Just mention you’re a BBer that wants to see the AM Issue.
FYI, the preliminary results of the survey are in and have given us some very interesting insights regarding the group demographics. We’ll be sharing the results with you all. Anyone care to guess:

Rob, the publisher of the Chronicle, will be weighing in shortly, but to address a couple of the recent posts:
There is NO confirmation email. Once you complete the survey form and create a log-in and password for the www.chronofhorse.com site, you can click over there immediately and start checking it out!
Input that username and password into the log-in field at the top of www.chronofhorse.com and you’re all set.

Just finished speaking with the programmer. If you took the survey and were unable to access the free subscription OR especially if you were able to access the digital subscription and it failed, please contact webmaster@chronofhorse.com. We aim to please folks. Be patient, and we’ll get it sorted out.
Btw, there were over 2,500 surveys submitted. Nearly all have been accessing their digital subscription with success. But, because of a variety of reasons (mostly tech) a small number are having trouble. As said, we’re committed to get it sorted. And, in the mean time, email me your mailing address and I’ll get the paper Amateur Issue to you (while supplies last,) in the mean time. I’m rbanner@chronofhorse.com
