Product review - Wilker's Custom Memory Foam half pad

Love love love!!!

After my last post on searching for half pads I reached out to IndyEquestrian to get some answers on the Wilker’s Pad and a couple others they have in stock. After discussing saddle fit, what I wanted the pad to do, and sending photos of my saddle on my horse we concluded that the Wilker’s would be a good solution. I was excited to pick out colors and not spend over $200 on a pad since I was previously thinking about getting an Ogilvy.

It arrived SUPER fast for a custom item, and I must say the colors are absolutely GORGEOUS. I got a dark grey pad with white piping and kelly green trim, and it looks so sharp I am afraid to get it dirty!! A picture of it is on their Facebook page . It fit my saddle perfectly. It added the cushion and fixed the minor saddle fit issues (horse has lost topline, saddle was a bit wide) without adding too much bulk or being unbalanced. When I untacked the pad was visibly squished down but came right back to shape within minutes. His Highness was super willing to lift his back and work, and if it had been uncomfortable or too tight he would have [theatrically] informed me right away.

So, there ya have it! I LOVE this pad. I’m excited to put more rides in and feel like I can actually use my jump saddle without hurting my horse’s back!! Thanks Indy!!!

I ordered one recently as a gift for a friend, partially so I could compare to my Ogilvy which took many, many moons longer to arrive and cost almost twice as much. I ordered directly from Wilkers and the pad was shipped in about two days. My husband declared it not nearly as nice as “the $800 saddle pad”, but everyone (including the trainer) at the barn is pretty envious of the kiddo with the saddle pad in barn colors and wants one of their own.

Exactly! They come in more color options and are half the price. The craftsmanship isn’t quite as high, but that’s only if I’m being nitpicky. By that I mean the end of the piping wasn’t seamlessly sewn. I personally cannot operate a sewing machine, so just the fact that someone was able to sew the whole damn thing together and have it look simply gorgeous gives it an A in my book. The quality of the materials is absolutely comparable and I really like the quilted underside.

I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase a second one.

Thanks for the heads up, I am in the market for a half pad.

The product description seems to indicate that these covers aren’t removable and therefore not machine washable. Is that true?

Cover was not removable

Cover is not removable and they recommend spot cleaning, but I did ask if the pad could be washed and air dried and was told that another customer had done so with no issues.

My washer doesn’t have a center agitator which helps. I’m not sure if I would be comfortable putting it in a washer that did have one.

I just ordered one–thanks for the rec.

OMG! runNjump86

Thank you!! We are thrilled that both you and ‘His Highness’ are happy with your pad! It looks amazing on your handsome guy! I hope I get to see it in person this Spring, you guys HAVE to come down for an Event, or we will have to come up there!

HiJumpGrrl Love the color combo you chose! I already have the pad ordered! Can’t wait to see what it looks like in person!
