Seems like they could make “vests” count as “jackets”. That way people could wear vests when jackets are required and they could either be clothing or safety vests.

Personally I think a long sleeve sunshirt in a pale color with a tailored vest (especially if cut a bit longer to cover just below belt) is a nice compromise of sporty and traditional. And it makes those who choose a safety vest blend in more.

I don’t show but if I did I would love to be able to wear my black vest and gray breeches on my gray turned white mare with a gray saddle pad.

I’m excited about the change!

Does anyone know what colors are definitively in/out? “Dark” and “Bright” are a little hard to interpret!

For example, I’m assuming a bright purple is out, but what about a merlot or burgundy? Those are fairly dark. Or, at what point does a light blue cross into bright territory?

I have it straight from the mouth of an Olympic-level TD that merlot, burgundy, and yes, RUST are all okay within the new rule.

I don’t have anything that official regarding your question about blue; I would advise, however, that if you think your blue – or any color – might be too bright, take a pass.

It is important to remember that the new dress rules do not go into effect until December 1.

I hope Canada follows suit. I would love to show in black breeches with a black jacket. Surely on a black horse in black tack my position would be less noticeable?
