Proprioceptive bracelet

Have horse that tends to not step under as well with her lt hind. There is no soreness or lameness issue. Started using a proprioceptive bracelet on the lt hind. Has made a huge difference.

My question is : how long to use before the new movement pattern becomes her “normal.”

I do not have an educated answer, but I’d think you’d want to use it only intermittently so she doesn’t get used to it and it stops working? I’ve always been curious to try this, I’ve heard about using just a bell boot for that purpose. Interested to hear more if someone else has experience/knowledge.

This talks about a study showing use during a 60 minute workout every 3 days for 6 weeks made a big difference. I’m not clear if the horse was worked more than 3 days/week, the others without the bell boot.

As for how long - it likely depends on how long it’s used each ride, and the degree of asymmetry to start. If it’s something you can feel, then you’ll feel things getting better, but even then, it’s a good idea to take regular video to more objectively evaluate things. I’d do weekly or at least every 2 weeks.
