Pros and cons of heated hoses

I’m thinking of getting a couple of heated hoses. One for the inside of the barn and one to run outside to the chicken coop. In wondering if anybody has any experience with using heated hoses this way, and if it works.
Thanks!
Veronica

The heated hoses are only heated along the hose itself.
The end fittings are not heated… they will still freeze.
I have a friend who has to leave the ‘nozzle end’ of the hose submerged in her trough… otherwise that end freezes.

I use a light weight self-draining hose. Much easier for the 50’ I have to go.

We have been using a heated hose for 3 years now and absolutely love it! When we are finished using it we unhook the nozzle because that can freeze. Just plug it in when I arrive and by the time I am done feeding it is ready to go.
