ProStride rubber footing?

I’ve finally been able to create my “dream” riding arena at home and I’m looking to add a rubber product to give a bit more bounce to my new footing (screenings). It’s just me riding so it’s not a high traffic ring.

Anyone using ProStride? It is more affordable than some other options I’ve seen. Any opinions one way or the other? I’ve ordered a test strip to try out in my ring…Thanks!

I always heard of a sand/rubber combination, which is what I have in my indoor, but not screenings/rubber. Please update with whatever you add and how it is working, assuming it’s an outdoor? I’m talking with excavators now about an outdoor and I still haven’t decided what footing I want to use.

Will do - It is an outdoor and I read on the website that you can add the prostride to stone dust/screenings to keep it from getting so compacted. I ordered a “test strip” to see what it’s like before I make a big investment. Good luck with your ring!

I have not received a sample of the Prostride, but got a quote which was much higher than for Surefoot. What other companies did you get pricing from? I was going to add mine to screenings as well (because of clay soil).

Quick update…installed my Prostride and rode in it for the first time today. It’s fantastic mixed with my screenings. It gives some cushion and bounce but it keeps the grip and firmness of the screenings. For me, it’s a great combination.

Where are you located and how is the weather? I’m considering this but we have lots of different weather and I’m worried about washing out.

I’m in the piedmont of NC so we can get heavy rains but not for long periods of time. I waited until we had a really heavy rainstorm before I ordered the Prostride - I wanted to see what would happen to my screenings first before putting the crumb rubber down. I’m sure I’ll have some washing during a super soaking rain storm but I don’t think I will have a big loss of footing though.

Thanks for updating! I’ll keep this in mind.

Pro stride is great–I’ve put it in 3 arenas, and will be putting it in 2 more. You do need to be concerned with the floating aspect though. You WILL lose your rubber if you don’t have a lip to contain it. As long as its contained in your arena, you can just rake it back to the track and drag it to spread it around. If you don’t, well, have fun raking it out of your grass…

Yep, I installed a border prior to putting down the ProStride for that very reason!

Would ProStride work well in an indoor that currently has only sand?
