Protective Boots for the Big-Boned Horse

I’ve used DSB boots since they hit the market, but the XL fits my new-ish gelding’s front legs only.
Same for the Valena brand - the XL hind size closes edge-to-edge without excessive tightening on the fronts, but leaves an inch-plus gap on the hinds.

Do you have a similar style from another brand that fits a Big Horse hind leg?

They aren’t exactly what you’re after, but I’ve found that the XL in the woof, Mayjk, and Pro Choice boots fit my mare who measures a 13" fetlock circumference.

People on Horses - best boots ever, and they will custom size them! I had a couple of horses that had huge bone, but were not all that tall - short, dense canon bones, and they did large around, medium height boots for my boys. The boots are real sheepskin lining, and you can order ANY color and custom size them.

And they last and last and last - I went through DSHBs every 6 months, The POH boots last years! Especially if you get the patent style.

I’m not a big fan of DSB, they look pretty at first, but just don’t hold up that well to wear. I switched to Mayjk Equipe Dressage boots and really like their breathability and durability. Per their website, their XL dressage boots might fit :

Our X-large Sport boot has a height of 11.8" (29.5 CM) and a width of 11.6" (29CM) at the top and 13" at the bottom. Our X-Large boot would fit a horse with a minimum canon bone length of 12.5" and up to 14.5" and a canon bone circumference of 11.5" to 13.5". These guidelines are exactly that, ‘guidelines’, remember every horse has a unique fit.

BatCoach… Magyk boots are nice, but still not big enough.
DoubleDown… Thanks, but I do love fuzzy liners.
MysticOakRanch… PERFECT! Thanks!

I have th same issues - try finding a good bell boot for a horse with a #5 shoe!

I also don’t like boots with only two or three Velcro straps - doesn’t spread the pressure out very evenly. Boogaloo and Woof (the ones with 4-5 straps) have fairly generous XLs and Boogaloo will custom size

Smartpak ones fit my Perch/warmblood nicely. The DSB are too small.

Now I could find open front tendon boots to fit a big horse that didn’t cost $100+, that would be even better!
