PS of Sweden Bridle and Chambon

my Chambon does not fit the PS of Sweden Bridle crown piece and I wondered if any of you, could point me in the right direction to a Chambon, that would?

Anybody?

you won’t find a lot of chambon users on the dressage forum, maybe ask the makers of the bridle

Can’t answer your question because I don’t know anyone who uses a chambon. What do you use it for?

I can’t imagine how you could attach a chambon to a PS bridle. Do you have an old bridle with a normal crownpiece you could use just for when you are using the chambon?

It’s quite a nice tool for green horses to teach them forward-down-out with a lot more freedom and less resistance than straight side reins.

If you’re having trouble attaching it because the crownpiece is wider, you could try adding a strip of velcro on each side instead of using the strap & buckle attached to the chambon. Or is it a different issue?
BTW, I love the PS of Sweden bridles, I got to ā€œplayā€ with all of them when I was writing about them & putting them on our tack shop website. So cool how you can unsnap the browband and switch out.

I am surprised to hear Dressage folks asking for the purpose of a Chambon. Young horse or not, I find it an invaluable tool. As a Bereiter I do not always work with horses, who have been trained perfectly from day one but even my own horses have rarely been lunged without.

I thought of the Velcro addition but would prefer a more professional look and the benefit of the PS Bridle Crown. I am seriously considering having one made to my specifications as there are not a lot about, which actually fit well.

Thanks for your input!

Personally, would not use a nice fancy bridle any time I am lunging - BTDT, got the t-shirt that said ā€œMy Horse Broke My $500 Bridleā€. Never again. And my guy is good on the lunge… I’ve talked about it before, but a tree fell right outside our ring and panicked him. Hard lesson to learn…

I mean, I am guessing you are lunging and not riding in it? If you’re lunging, I don’t think a day in a different bridle would be a big deal.

What you can do that is equally unprofessional is just get the tiny velcro tabs that come on Brand New Bridles that hold the reins to the bridle, and just wrap the velcro around the chambon strap by the browband. I’ve done that before because my Passier crownpiece is also too wide.

I use the same bridle everyday. Show or training, always did, always will. The only reason I bought the bridle where the functions. If I would not believe in the function, I would have not parted with the cash and could have bought any Walsall made bridle with a Flash as I love English Bridle leather and the craftsmanship.

I tend to combine riding and lunging so changing bridles for the Chambon is not convenient to me. The manufacturer uses a Swedish made Chambon, which does fit the PS of Sweden bridle, so I will go ahead and order ā€œover thereā€

Where? Were? Not sure which one I should have used

Here I thought I was being cute using a sidecheck bridle for longing… Something like this: http://www.sstack.com/Arabian-Equipment_Arabian-Training-Equipment_Arabian-Training-Bridles-Reins/Premier-Arabian-Sidecheck-Training-Bridle/

Makes it super, super easy to use with a longing cavesson. Easy to adjust, swap out bits between horses, etc.

Were would be correct (past tense of ā€˜are’). Where is for location (i.e. Where are you?).

I am still looking for just the right Chambon and I am in the middle of working on a prototype with my leather working friend. It is not just the fact that today’s bridles are often broader across the poll but I also struggle to find Chambon that is just overall functional and constructed in a way that it will work best!

Have your leather maker make you some snaps that go around the Chambon and the bridle. Otherwise, could you use a sheepskin halter fuzzy.

I use a similar side check bridle, They are awesome when switching out bits and fit a variety of sizes.
