PSA: Legends Horse Feed Discontinued

I don’t know how many people here feed Legends products, but, in case you aren’t aware, Cargill is discontinuing the entire line in October. I haven’t seen any discussion of that news here, so I just thought I’d pass along the information!

Yep!

The new ProElite Showman, coming out in Oct, is similar to CarbCare Performance. I think another Legends product will “become” another ProElite product but I’m not positive on that.

Word is also that ProElite products will become more widely available

Well, shit. That’s a bummer. I’ve really liked the Carbcare Performance :frowning:

Thanks for the heads up!

Cargill got tired of specialty feed lines, so decided to cut the line entirely. @simkie you may like the new Showman. The Nutrena rep who posted about it elsewhere said it does have a higher feeding rate to take advantage of some of the extras, but if you feed at the CarbCare Performance rate, it’s pretty much the same. I haven’t done the actual number crunching, but she allegedly did.

What I liked about Carbcare Performance was the low feeding rate–it’s about the most dense feed out there from the pound per quart perspective.

I’ll look at the Showman when it launches. I see nothing out there about it now, but unless it’s equally dense, I’ll have to look elsewhere. Total volume is important to me.

This has been a very cursed year for me and horse feed.

I went back to Legends Rice Bran after the Buckeye fire left Ultimare Finish nowhere to be found.

It looks like Ultimate Finish is finally returning to shelves, so hopefully my feed store will have it back soon.
