I knew that would happen!
I get the sense that The Clothes Horse’s owner really takes customer service seriously and is quite involved with the orders. I have always been able to work out quotes or talk about exact colors and modifying existing horse clothing with Katrina. (In fact, I owe her an e-mail, lol).
Halfhalting, try and give 'em another shot. IME, one always gets out of custom ordering what one puts in. That is to say that the more precise you can be with details or measurements or examples or pictures, the better the product comes out. And that’s true with everyone from chap makers to trunk makers.
But The Clothes Horse is refreshingly great because

They know what I mean when I ask for something custom. (I can’t tell you how many horse clothing customizers (on the West Coast) can’t figure out what I mean when I say I want piping or grosgrain ribbon added to a blanket. They ask me to describe what I want in detail…. and I get scared, like I’m having to teach them something that’s common in their industry.

The Clothes Horse doesn’t mind my persnickosity. I assume this comes with the Custom Horse Clothing mission. But too much detail can make some blanket people unhappy, as I have discovered (with a bit of surprise).
Much better to go with a company that sets the bar for quality and attention to detail than to try to show another where it should be.
