PSI Auction presentation to be live streamed today
Not to be a party pooper, but a few of those PSI Auctions horses were at the US Young Horse Championships this year. One that sold for 950,000 Euro and another that sold for over 500,000 Euro. The one that sold for the higher figure was beat by more than one US bred horse.
Which ones sold for 950K and 500K? And who bred the horses that beat them?

Riccidoff and Horizon, respectivenly, owned by Betsy Juliano. You should be able to look up the National Championship results online. Funny thing is, Horizon had done okay all year with decent scores, but then at the Championship Final class she pulled out a massive score, about 1.0 whole point higher than her normal scores for the year.

I know that my 4 year old beat Horizon in one of our 4 year old classes. And that Horizon was beaten by other US breds throughout the year before the finals class at the Championships.

Wow…Sarkozy is for sale. I’ve always really liked this stallion.

Wasn’t PSI (together with Dutta) the sponsor of the US National Championships?

A number of trainers thought Horizon was overscored at Lamplight. I was not there so I did not see her go. I happen to prefer my Hotline mare, though.

I was uber impressed with South Coast… and the walk on Der Designer

Der Designer really stood out at his lisencing too. He just looks like a superstar GP horse in the making.

Agreed regretably his semen doesn’t ship well so here’s hoping his attention is turned to competition and it gets better as he matures.

If you don’t mind me asking, were they upfront about his semen or did you have to find out the hard way? Fantastic horse! I noticed that he’s been off and on their breeding stallion list and wondered if that was the reason.

Very upfront, was interested in three stallions for two different mares and was advised against using him as his semen didn’t travel well, much appreciated. Used another stallion instead, great service, inexpensive collection & shipping costs NFFR for the following year, hassle free and arrived on time.

Auction tomorrow, too bad its not live streamed…Saw on Facebook that George Williams is in Germany now; he was the rider of the two Young Horse Championship participants who came from last year’s auction. Wonder if there will be more shopping…??

Do you have the results for the jumpers?

Did Sarkozy not sell?

"Did Sarkozy not sell? " Doesn’t look like it.

No jumper info yet.

Here is where I got the information: Maybe Eurodressage will have results. Read somewhere that George Williams was supposed to be there so maybe Honeylips can get more information.

I assume the ones with no prices were withdrawn.

As for Sarkozy, this was reported on the Horsegates forum -

Es gab eine Liste zur Reihenfolge der Versteigerung. Hier war Sarkozy nicht aufgeführt.
Eine besucherin erzählte, Sakozy hätte schon am Vortag nicht in die Halle wollen, wäre nur noch gestiegen.

Google translation:
There was a list on the order of the auction. Sarkozy was not listed here.
A visitor told Sakozy would not want the day before in the hall would have only risen.

The second sentence befuddles me - maybe Sarkozy did not perform well during the pre-auction presentation, so he was withdrawn. And if so, I wonder if he was sold privately outside the auction.

Betsy Juliano was there as one of four special guests to accept PSI awards. For her support of the PSI auctions, she was given the P.S.I. Award Supporter award. Do not know yet if she also bought something - the Sir Donnerhall I / Londonderry mare sold to the US for 520,000E, so it will be interesting to see if she is the buyer.

Eurodressage just put up a brief blurb about the auction - http://www.eurodressage.com/equestrian/2011/12/12/der-designer-breaks-one-million-euro-barrier-2011-psi-auction .

Looks like Russia was the big buyer of the dressage horses, and Mexico was the big buyer of the jumping horses.

rough translation-
Sakozy hätte schon am Vortag nicht in die Halle wollen, wäre nur noch gestiegen.

sarkozy didnt want to be in the riding hall, preferred rearing, lol

Wow, that has a lot different meaning that the Google translation. No wonder the Google translation made know sense! Risen = rearing.

LOL, that is what I suspected it meant, but was afraid to say it!

I think the rearing translation is pretty accurate - and the first part of the sentence references a “full house” or full hall, so sounds like he didn’t handle crowds…

Re the listings that were posted, if there is no country listed, does that mean they stayed in Germany? Its interesting to see where they go, and someone somewhere posted data that the Russians bought several in prior years as well.

The prices are really interesting as the one the grooms and riders really rated before the auction wasn’t the highest price.
