I purchased some new horse feed .
Purina Impact All Stages 12 percent - some of the pellets in it are grey/ hazy looking. It does not smell molded, but I looked in another bag of same and there is none of the grey stuff. First thought is mold, but don’t want to jump to conclusions. My plan Tomorrow is to call the company, the store where purchased ( they will replace if bad) and talk to vet also. And of course I am not feeding it. But I want to hear from others who feed Purina, or have seen this type of thing in any feed. My feed is new from the store, stored in air conditioning, ect. And again, no smell. This is a new feed for us, and is labeled “ textured” but is a mixture and pellets. ( which is no
problem) the problem is that some
of the pellets are grey in color. Thanks for your imput.
Answering my own post- am discarding this feed- the vendor will reimburse I am sure, and if not, better to be safe than sorry.
Can you look on the bag and see when it was manufactured? I would save the tag even if you discard the feed.
we just returned a Smartpack shipment that was totally mismixed … we were not sure as the product was new to us but horse refused to eat it. Duahgter had a friend who was using the same product, she sent her a photo of what it was supposed to look like … no where near the same.
Smartpack replaced the product
I would save the tag even if you discard the feed.
actually the info is printed on the sealing tape used on the bottom of the bag…date of production and plant will be printed on the tape to a part of the bag, it can removed by pulling the thread out like unsealing a bag on the top
