Purina/ingredient list and a Thank you!

Am I crazy or does Purina not list their ingredients of their horse feeds on their website. I was curious about the ingredients in the Purina 32 - and can’t find them on their website…

And I want to say thank you for helping me get a feeding program together for my horses, since making the decision about going back to a RB I feel much better. I don’t feel like I am going to have to worry about them as much or try to figure out how I am going to afford this and that… so THANK YOU!!!

If no one has them on here, you can email Purina and get a list. They also have a nutritionist who is very helpful.

I’m not sure about Purina specifically, but some manufacturers adjust their ingredients based on availability and cost to meet a single nutritional profile. They typically don’t include the ingredients on the website, because it varies by time of year or location, but they will sew a tag onto each bag as it is produced with the ingredients used in that batch.

Purina only has a few fixed formula products–namely Ultium. I don’t think the Enrich32 is one of them? You’ll find the ingredients on each bag tag, but they won’t publish them online because the ingredients might change from batch to batch or region to region based on the availability and quality of ingredients.

Purina is one of quite a few companies that do not have ingredients on their website. Nutrena is another major brand that does not.

It’s truly annoying. I mean, LMF goes to the trouble of listing that for each of their region-specific formulations, so it’s not like NObody lists that for formulas that a region-specific.

As for the ingredients changing - that’s why companies can and do say “grain products” or “grain by-products” or “forage products” to account for variability based on either least-cost, availability, or region-specific. So that’s not a valid excuse either

I guess that’s another reason why I like Blue Seal. I’ve been feeding Sentinel LS to my 23 y.o. gelding for weight maintenance for a couple of years and he’s doing great on it. The ingredient list is on the website, along with complete nutritional information. I can see where there would be some variability in terms of the manufacturer’s sources of basic ingredients. I would expect that to be built into their business model. The pricing might change accordingly. Not having the ingredients available on a website makes it difficult to compare products, and leaves an awful lot of latitude for them to change the formula without the customer being able to figure what they did.
