Has anyone used each of these? Any opinions on results regarding topline, attitude and behavior, palatability, etc?
We feed Tribute Essential K to the easy keepers at work. I would say it’s roughly equivalent to any of the decent ration balancers. (TC30, Purina Enrich, etc.) Good palatability and the horses all have toplines appropriate for their level of work.
Purina Omega Match is new to me, so thanks for the interesting reading!
I’ve been feeding Omega Match since the summer. I do 2 pounds a day, in addition to Equine Senior Active (which I feed at 12 pounds per day to my hard keeper thoroughbred.) I keep my horse on some sort of Omega supplement because he’s always itchy and it seems to help and he eats this (he’s picky.) My horse is 22 and his topline had never looked better, but I also started him in dressage this year, which I assume is the reason for the topline. He didn’t bleach out as much this summer and his winter coat is super shiny, possibly due to the
Omega Match as that was the only addition from last year. No change in attitude or behavior, he’s still his opinionated wild self. I hadn’t considered a ration balancer before since he’s on so much grain, but he refuses to eat most hoof supplements and stopped eating his coat supplement and I was desperate. A friend let me borrow a few servings and he ate it, so I bought it.
IMHO, just put the extra cost of feeding the Omega Match into a good Omega 3 supplement.
