Putting my horse to sleep tomorrow 😢

To say I’m absolutely devastated is an understatement! Sullivan has battled delayed gastric emptying due to severe abdominal and pyloric ulcers for the past 6 years! Then last year developed a polyp, which blocked his pylorus and then for unknown reasons, cleared! He survived a severed extensor tendon at age 4, with no issues but finally his pylorus has got the best of him and he colicked again 2 days ago! This scope shows it has completely stopped working and no food at all is getting through, so we’ve decided it’s time! To look at him, you’d never know just how seriously I’ll he has been……he’s In great weight, shiny, happy….until he’s not! Over 14L of fluid was pulled….my horse of a lifetime….I am so sorry my dude …,but we got further than anyone thought we would and you almost reached age 14!

I am donating his body in hopes it will help others suffering from this terrible disease! Rest easy my friend , how I adore you! :broken_heart:

I am so terribly sorry. Sending you hugs. Saying goodbye is never easy, but certainly not so young and so unexpectedly.

I’m so sorry. What a beautiful boy. I understand your pain. I had my boy put to sleep last Monday, it’s killing me that I won’t get to hug his big old head anymore, I was looking forward to so many more rides on my sweet boy. I’m thinking of you and sending healing thoughts.

I am so sorry, you have done so much for him when others would have given up already. It is never easy no matter what age but you are doing what is best, and giving him a peaceful, pain free ending. No horse could ask for more than that at the end. Big hugs and sending you all the comforting vibes I can. We all will be holding your hand virtually tomorrow!!

He is one Knockout of a horse. Even the baby pic is gorgeous :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
Know you’re doing right by him.
I donated 2 of those I lost to the vet college they were euthed at. So students could study what took them.

Godspeed, Sullivan.
@eclipse All of COTH will be with you tomorrow :heavy_heart_exclamation:
