Well, sure, valid point, if you are just looking for a good riding horse, no big deal so long as you don’t buy health issues.

This is exactly the kind of information I was looking for, thank you! What is P1 vs P234?
Supposedly horse has a great temperament. He’s a bit far for me so I’m trying to decide via pictures and videos if he’s worth a trip…[/QUOTE]
P-1 was the first horse listed in the stud book. It was decided that the stallion that won the stallion halter class at the Fort Worth Stock Show would get that honor. Wimpy then became Wimpy P-1. King was the 234th horse registered, therefore he is King P-234.
Personally, I like the King/Three Bars crosses, but they have an opinion. They also tend to have good minds, and good work ethics, and will do whatever job you ask them to. The only one I know personally that didn’t was so batsh** crazy under saddle that my daddy wanted to put her down. She belonged to his best friend though and he bred her to Daddy’s good Leo P-1335 stud and came out with awesome babies, foiling the whole as is the mare so is the baby mantra.
Well that 2nd pedigree (twistnlassee) brought a tear to my eye. My husband’s good dun mare, My Showdown Sissy, went back to My Texas Dandy. A little standoffish but boy she knew her job, enjoyed doing it and knew her worth. What they called in Texas “a usin’ horse.” She died several years ago at 32 and we still miss her. See you someday, Showy.
The horse I got at the Pitzer sale April 2013, is Nu King Chex (Chex).
He was a few weeks off being 4 yr, been over a year, now is 5, he is only my 2nd horse. I had heard horror stories of how crazy young horses can be. Thankfully, he has a VERY good brain!!
He is VERY solid, has a lot of personality. Loves to push things, balls, cows, goats (in his pasture) and barn cats.
He is VERY sweet and gentle.
We have done some major trail riding, endurance, cattle clinics, horsemanship clinics, in which he is a very willing partner. Just did a Mark Schwarm clinic about a month ago, he offered to ride Chex, Mark really liked him, said he was broke and a lot of fun.
Chex is very agile and athletic.
I think he was started really well, had worked in a feed lot in Nebraska, so I can not take all the credit of him, but if I could, I would CLONE him in a heartbeat.
He is very playful, when put back into pasture, after he is ridden, he loves to just run, jump, roll, and play for a few mins, the other horse I got at Pitzer is a year older, half Pitzer bred, is much more happy to just roll and graze, but Chex likes to play and put on a show.
Is easy to catch and can do anything, did I mention, he is soo sweet?? He is very curious and self confident.
I LOVE him!!
Went to Big Creek in Missouri for a week of very tough trail riding in the Ozarks, was a BLAST, forgive how I look, it included camping, so I am a tad bit more rough looking than normal, but was a girls weekend, prob my highlight for the year. Chex was awesome! We do NOT have terrain like that where we live, he handled it all in stride.

Shermy, it’s a shame you don’t look like you’re having any fun in those pics.
Not really sure but ne of my mare’s great grandsires is Doc O’Lena. Cutting Horse Hall of Famer. Her other Great Grand sires are Doc Bar, Poco Tivio, and Cutter Blll. All Hall of famers. I so want a baby out of my mare.
