Quarter sheet for lunging - No keyhole

Search brought up a few older posts, but most the links don’t exist anymore. So I’m hoping someone has a more current solution.

I need a quarter sheet to use for lunging in the winter. Ideally wool or wool blend, but I could do fleece. I have a regular keyhole sheet, but it seems counterintuitive to leave a big wind hole in the middle of their back. The ones that attach to the back of the saddle will be too short if attached to the surcingle.

Where can I find the old square ones my trainers used to put under the saddle (with corners neatly folded back under the flaps of course!)?

Just use a saddle pad with your surcingle and keyhole sheet?

Check carriage driving suppliers. Driving Essentials is a vendor along with others who post on the Facebook pages CD-L, Carriage Driving, CDE and Pleasure Driving, probably most pages with carriage in their name. You could ask for maker or sellers, get responses. I believe most will be synthetic, often waterproof for use in snow and rain. But I am sure someone will make you a wool one if you really want wool. The fasteners for harness saddle should work fine with a lunging surcingle.

Here’s one.

I bet they also come up on eBay (and maybe Etsy?) from time to time.

I use the Baker quarter sheets (google Baker quarter sheets). I get mine from our local tack shop. I do not like the keyhole quarter sheets. I find they tend to pull back. Plus I don’t ever take mine off during the ride. The princess mare likes her quarter sheet on at all times.

So smart! Thank you. I think this one will be the winner: https://marathon-carriage.com/product/driving-quarter-sheet-melton-wool/

@maggiemae and @Simkie Thanks so much. These will definitely be going on the wish list! (The other is more economical, especially this time of year.)

Would a walking blanket help?
