So, I’m planning to breed my mare. I have my top choice stallion picked out. I have the half brother to my mare out of the same dam. I would like to breed her to the stallion line of her brother which is DeNiro. My top pick is a son of DeNiro, Don Deluxe. For me, Don Deluxe is the most intriguing of the DeNiro sons. I love the temperament of both my horses and both are very athletic and my mare I have trained to the Grand Prix. That is why I think it would be a good combination.
So, my question is how close is too close in line breeding? Don Deluxe has Feiner Stern in the 3rd generation on the dam side. My mare’s sire is Feiner Stern. Maybe I’m overthinking it, but before I bite the bullet and have the semen shipped I’d like some input.
