Question about For Compliment offspring?

What type of feet do the offspring of For Compliment generally have? He looks to have good feet in photos but is he passing them on? Anyone have or know of any FC offspring?

Comments very much appreciated!

Use a nice tempered mare.

Donella, I do not know about the feet. I do plan to use some of the FC semen I have been hoarding this year, though.

Why do you say that, bits?

I don’t breed mares that aren’t but I had never heard his offspring were difficult?

Neither have I, hence the question.

What type of mare are you using him on Home Again?

I will be using him with Wolkenstanza if I get a good enough cycle to risk one of my last doses. Last year I bred him to Wintermaske and she lost the pregnancy. Both tried and true, very solid mares.

How many offspring have you met in person ?

I have met several, including a couple under saddle, and all were very nice minded horses. Do not know where the comment comes from unless you have met one that is not within the normal range.
I also am planning on using a dose on a Don Principe/Rotspon/Argentinus 3 yr old for an ET if we get exceptionally lucky. I went out of my way to buy this semen because of the ones I had met. Very athletic, supple horses with “forward” built in.

To the OP, all of them had large, well shaped feet

I’ve attended 3 FC’s from birth and neither had any problems with their feet or brains. My own colt came with slightly contracted flexor tendons but was also huge at birth and he didn’t require any treatment beyond a few sessions of physio and exercise to get well within 4 days so not exactly an pediatric drama
From the 8 I’ve had a closer look at at stallion inspection age all were excellent movers and appeared sensible enough. Some might be on the livelier end of the spectrum but don’t forget these were bred with upper level sport in mind, not to cart someone around who basically wants a pet that can be sat on
I’ve never come across any pigheaded ones so far.

Someone was interested in my mare to breed to FC. (Rubinstein/Warkant/EigerI mare) She is a fabulous riding horse, or was… prior to the salmonella/founder. She takes a couple of days to get settled when she goes to new places and wants everyone in the barn to know Rubi has entered the building. Once she gets settled she’s a pussy cat. (don’t know how much of that would go away if she got out more) That is really her only “fault”. Temperment was the major factor in passing on the Rubinstein mare for him. (And that came from an experienced breeder.)

Hustle I think that is a very small database to draw any conclusions from

Thanks for the comments. I am hoping to use him on a half TB mare I have that I am leasing this year. She has a good walk and an exceptional trot and canter. Lots of swing through the back, suspension and tonnes of shoulder freedom and knee. I just want bigger feet with some natural heel (she has a bit of a flat, tb type foot). I have some FC in the tank and thought of using it on her.

Also, does anyone know how tall this stallion really is? He is listed a couple of different heights on different websites. Someone told me that a friend saw him a few weeks ago and that he is a bit small (maybe 16.1hh she was guessing). Does he throw smaller horses?

Thank you!

He definitely doesn’t throw small. Most of the progeny I’ve come across were in the 16.2 and bigger league. He is not dwarf sized himself either. You could drop his ex-owner a line she will certainly tell you the precise measure.

All of the ones I have seen were tall as well

Ive got a coming yearling colt at home. Lovely to handle, attentive, good mind, looks like daddy. Right now our spring has just arrived so he is still a wooly yak but I see no issues with legs/hooves etc. He will be a big boned boy, tall… if there was more semen , it would be a repeat for sure.
