Question about septic system--Update, I have further questions post 62 another update 74

Great! I had mine pumped last week. Everything was working fine, but it had been 10 years. I asked the guy if everything looked fine in there. He said “Well, as fine as shit looks, I guess”. I was hoping for some insight into the system itself, but I think they just shoved the hose down the pipe that sticks up from my septic tank, turned on the vacuum until it was done, rolled up the hose and called it done. Hopefully all is really okay down there. I think I made the appointment right before you started this thread, but your situation inspired me to ask if it looked okay.

When they serviced my tank, they pumped the solids, removed both tank lids, checked the level, and made sure the alarm worked. Don’t ask how much it costs to get the alarm tower replaced, or you’ll cry. The septic guys said that either someone doing one of the two fences cut the alarm wire, or it never worked at all. So I now have a new, modern tower that runs off of the one wire to the pump and alarm that works. Whoever gets this house should feel lucky, since the house next door has never had the tank, or pump checked, and I’m betting their alarm doesn’t work either. I’m guessing the fence people were fine, but no one checked the alarm worked.
