question about track abbreviations

I am mystified by two track abbreviations on a PP document generated by Equibase. Does anybody know which tracks AP and/or KD refer to?

As always, I’m grateful for the collective wisdom on this forum.

AP is Arlington Park. KD is Kentucky Downs. Guessing your horse was a turf specialist?

…Can you get more specific on the horse to help narrow it?

AP–Arlington Park (IL)? Arapahoe Park (CO)? KD: Kentucky Downs? (VERY short meet with a turf-only course…)

Thanks! How silly I didn’t think of Arlington Park, since I spent my first day at the races there something like 50 years ago. I did think of Arapahoe, but it made no sense, sandwiched tightly between races at Churchill Downs and Ellis Park.

I guess the Kentucky Downs race was a lark, since this mare only raced 4 times on turf (of 58 lifetime starts) and never hit the board. She just retired 100% sound at the age of 8 after racing 6 years and earning $69K . . . and she is all mine!

Very helpful reference. Thank you! I looked for such a list and couldn’t find one on my own. Usually, the abbreviations are obvious to me, but those two stumped me. I’ve never had a horse who made it that far west before.

Kentucky Downs only races a week out of the year. It’s an interesting little meet…

Glad you and your mare found each other!
