question about USEF points reporting- Pony Medal

DD won 1st out of 8 at the end of Sept in a Pony Medal class. Pony is life recorded and DD is current in her USEF membership. The points show up for the other classes she did that day but there are no points for the Pony Medal win. Why would that be?

I don’t think that those points would be reflected under the ponies points since it is relevant only for the rider.

You will check national equitation points for 2013 when they start to list them (these are for 2012 which is over)

The Horse Report will have the class listed and the placing. The actual number of points is listed under Hunter Seat Equitation. Here is the link.

It only has 2012 points listed. I am sure 2013 points will show up after December 1st.

Thanks everyone. I assumed that they would post the new show year pony medal points after this usef show year is actually over. And it would make sense that eq points don’t show up on a horse results page except that I looked at other pony medal rider’s horse results and the points for the pony medal are there. However, there are also other pony medal riders who don’t have points listed on the horse results page for pony medal classes that took place after July so my daughter isn’t the only one. Trying to keep track of all the start and end dates that constitute a “year” in order to qualify for certain things and then figuring out your points requires a spreadsheet!

Why not just call USEF or use their online chat feature? Probably wait until a weekday but they are usually pretty quick and can get you the right information.

Thanks findeight. That will be my next step.

If you get to where you are doing this for years, as many of us have, you will realize USEF is not infallable in their prompt point keeping skills. One needs to stay on it;). And sometimes be patient for a few months after the show, they tend to revise. Alot.

This was the first rated show where DD did the eq and she did the Pony Medal as a warm up for the Larges. She’s done well in the eq at unrated shows but never really thought about concentrating on eq over hunters. However, she got 1st out of 8 and I think that means she got 30 points which I think means she could go to Pony Finals. I am anxious to see if USEF agrees with my interpretation of the rules.

Eq results absolutely do show up on the horse results and it also won’t matter what “year” they were earned. If her results for that show are on there (just missing the pony medal) then I’d absolutely call USEF.

Her results for that show are listed and the Pony Medal is listed where it shows that she was 1st out of 8. It just has 0 in the Nat’l and Zone points column which is why I’m confused.

I finally emailed USEF and they responded to me in less than 24 hours! The short version is that those points belong to the 2013 qualifying period and will be posted sometime in January.
