Question for Medical Mike...

So I tore the labrum in the hip off the bone about 3 years ago.

Spent the next year going downhill - finally my GP found somebody who would scope the hip. That was in April 2009.

I got a raging case of hip flexor tendonitis during ‘recovery’ due to a miscommunication from my PT. AND I never actually recovered from the surgery - failed surgery that caused additional deterioration of the joint.

Had the hip replaced in Jan 2010 - anterior procedure.

Now I have hip flexor tendonitis again. Started PT today - and the PT said to not try getting back on a horse till it was GONE (or symptom free), and if it started up again that would mean that the riding was feeding into the whole mess.

Aside from this mess I’ve always been pretty active and in reasonable shape.

What is the prognosis for something like this relative to riding? I’m in the ‘over 50’ crowd - and just read that the threshold for recurrence is pretty low.

I’m bummed…
