Question on Dublin Pinnacle boots

Just received mine yesterday (after exchanging for a smaller size) - and I’m really bummed. They LOOK great! But, the lacing on the outside of the boot - the internals are going to rub my ankle, I think. And the heel box (I’m not sure what you call that internal part that cups your heel) comes up a bit high and is quite stiff - it’s also touching the bottom of my ankle bone - that doesn’t bode well for me and these boots! Has anyone else had this issue? Does it ‘break in’?

I am thinking I need to send these back and opt for another style. Disappointed, because I was planning to do my trail riding in them. And of course, look sharp at Krogers after riding.

I’ve had my Dublin’s for just over a year now and I’ve loved them. They have always been very comfortable, and I never suffered any blisters or rubs. Plus they are tough as nails against being stepped on, water, dirt, and whatever else you may encounter in the barn. I wear mine at least 3x a week, and they are a dream to ride in. I did add a jell insole to mine as they weren’t the softest inside. That may help you get a little lift inside the boot to get the heel cup off your ankle bone. The sizing I did find was more like men’s sizing.
