Question: Rain Sheet with Velcro Front Straps?

Does anyone know if this combination exists, and if so, where to purchase it? Asking for a friend. Thank you!

Unless horse was old, kept alone in the paddock or field, I don’t think the velcro front will stay closed. Velcro has its place, but not locations that get stressed much, pulled on, like the chest closures.

Thank you. The horse is old.

Do you mean just Velcro, or Velcro in addition to regular snaps/straps?

Check out Bucas - I swear I saw a fly sheet from them that was just velcro in the front. Maybe they have turnouts too?

Both Rambo and Bucas have Velcro as well as metal closures in front of some sheets. BUT BEWARE! Once a lazy BO forgot to fasten the metal snaps and one of my horses lay down for her nap and I found her with her Rambo wrapped around her rear. Thank god she was in her stall and smart enough to be still. I know it is more work to fasten 2 metal snaps after Velcro-ing 2 but damn a horse could really be hurt.

The nu![](ber of times I have found the velcro piece pulled apart, but the metal clips intact on my horse’s turnout would make me leery of a turnout with only velcro in front.

If you are trying to not have to deal with buckles, lots of turnouts have clips instead:

Or buy a closed-front sheet.

Thank you, folks. I am going to pass this on to my friend. I think CloudyandCallie’s story will talk her out of this. That alone would have scared the stuffing out of me.

Hey Chief, that sheet was wrapped so tight on little Hattie I almost had to cut it off. Luckily no harm to horse or sheet.
BUT BEWARE of the closed front sheets. I’ve never had one but at another barn the owner and her friend bought some on sale at tack shop and tried to put one on a horse in a paddock. Horse panicked and ran off blinded and flipped over. A friend of mine watched in horror. When I got to the barn later guess who had to pry the surcingle metal out of that horse’s hind shoe? Not my horse. Those women returned those enclosed front sheets.
There’s a reason so many fasteners are on fronts of horse clothing.
What size is the old dude? I might have something

Horseware has a couple of Amigo turnouts they released with a Velcro disc closure. Our rep swears up and down they tested as secure. I’m on the fence, and won’t stop someone from buying one, but I personally have my misgivings.

Thank you for the offer, Cloudy. I’m going to let her pick out her own sheet. I’m not sure which style she will end up going for. I appreciate the help and the input! Thank you all. I think we can call this question answered and closed. Thank you!
