Quick question - why no stock ties in hunters?
This is surprising. I always thought the purpose of a stock tie was to make a sling or bandage if needed out in the hunt field. I have never heard of anyone being injured by a stock pin.
That is the reason, and in 12 years of hunting I never saw or heard of anyone getting stabbed. Besides, what good does it do if you have a bandage/sling and no way to secure it?

On the other hand, show hunters is so far removed from actual hunters that there’s no need for practical things.

If Pony Club, the (some might say) overzealous safety-Nazis, rule stock pins to be okay then I’m going to imagine the stabbed-in-the-jugular-bleed-out scenario is one of our imaginations.

I don’t know, IIRC our 4-H club 20-some years ago gave us some hell about the safety of safety pins. THINK OF THE CHILDREN!
