Oreo is NQR. He hasn’t eaten anything since Saturday. Took him in to the vet this morning and did not find any obstruction or abnormal gut sounds. They gave him IV fluids. I’m supposed to be giving him this hi-cal food but am having an awful time with the syringe. It doesn’t dissolve so there end up being clumps in it that clog up the syringe. Then if I press too hard it just sprays everywhere except IN the bunny. :no: Can anyone offer a better suggestion on how to get it in him?

USE A SYRINGE WITH A SMALL NOSE OTHERWISE IT IS DIFFICULT TO FIT IN HIS MOUTH AND PUSH AND GET ANY FOOD IN THE BUNNY AS OPPOSED TO ALL OVER THE CEILING …
NOT EASY TO DO … BUT WITH SOME PRACTICE YOU WILL FIND THE RIGHT “MIX” …
JINGLES & AO FOR OREO AND YOU
MIX FOOD WITH WATER IN A BOWL AND GET THE RIGHT CONSISTENCY
THEN SPOON THE MIXTURE INTO THE SYRINGE …
BEST TO HAVE SEVERAL SYRINGES AND MAKE UP A FEW AS USUALLY SOME OR ALOT GOES AROUND THE ROOM AND NOT IN THE BUNNY…

ZuZu, I will try the warm water. Does it help to let it sit for a while or should I just mix it and syringe it right away?
If it’s CC fine grind you’ll need a bigger syringe than they say. BTDT- hope it all works out. I’d use warm water and syringe right away. - Oops, just saw it’s regular CC. I’ve always had good luck with a 1.0 ml syringe, with several filled, and then water it down more way more than they recommend on pkg. Jingles for Oreo.
And a wisk seems to work better mixing it! Also slow pushing…just mix it with more parts water than they recommend…done it hundreds of times and you’ll get it!
I’m very sad to report that Oreo is gone. He still hadn’t eaten on his own this morning. I went to the kitchen get coffee and when I went back to check on him he was in pain. I ran upstairs to get clothes on to go to the vet, and by the time I got back downstairs he was gone. Poor bunny. 
(((HUGS))) So sorry. GI stasis is hard to overcome but you tried and that is what counts. They can be so hardy yet so very, very fragile at the same time. I’ve had to syringe feed several times a day only to lose one so you are not alone. In bunny rescue I see so many who are throw-aways and you went the extra mile. Thank you for giving him what was obviously a wonderful home and he was loved. :sadsmile: It’s a bun’s dream to have what you gave him.

You did your best. Keep in mind that there are lots of things that can do rabbits in that don’t always show signs until it’s too late (kidney & liver disease, hereditary heart disease, etc., etc.), & often nothing could have been done anyway. And since most folks (unless they’re running a commercial rabbitry) understandably don’t want to have an autopsy done, the cause is usually never discovered.
When you’re ready, I hope you decide to give another deserving bunny a good home with you. :sadsmile:
Oh, I’m so sorry you lost Oreo. No matter the size of the pet they sure leave a big hole in your heart.
I’m so sorry. They are very tough yet very fragile as someone else said. I hope you’ll consider keeping another bun some time in the future, big {{hugs}}.
