Race horse owners - Liability insurance?

Hi all,

What is the standard practice for OWNERS/SYNDICATES/PARTNERSHIPS of horses in training and breeding stock in terms of liability insurance?

Do they usually carry their own policies or are they covered by the policies of the trainers/breeding operations who are working with the horses (unlikely, I imagine).

We have our own insurance.

National HBPA has a very affordable policy thru Lavin Insurance.

We have a separate liability policy just for the horses. It’s through the same person who also writes their other insurance.

(We are sole owners, we’re not involved in any partnerships or syndicates. But if we were, we would handle the insurance the same way–just covering our portion.)
