I think this weekend’s races proved only one thing…
Mine That Bird was an overshadowed gelding coming into the KY and no fluke according to his honorable finishes in the Preakness, Belmont, and WV Derby (despite all of the hoopla of the "Wonder Horse etc etc.)
Summerbird was also not a fluke, he did turn in a very impressive 2nd in a rather decent mid-season field of horses (and 2nd to RA at that). I feel he will have a much better 4 yr old campaign should they choose to continue with him.
Birdstone’s stud fee will go up.
And Rachel Alexandra has proven herself HOTY regardless of whether she can race/beat Zenyatta at Spa. It’s one thing to have beaten all of the fillies by 14 lengths, it’s another to have beaten the boys TWICE in Grade I’s. Heck… Jess Jackson should pull Curlin out of retirement and make it an in-house dual! Naaahh… But Dubai 2010???
I loved how she came across the finish line looking like she was out eating grass on a sunny day… and the boys behind her were covered in mud!!

I’ve had TVG on since 8 am today; had to “step:winkgrin: out” for what I thought ws sust a minute,:lol: actually , it was just long enough for her to run:(,:mad: as I got back to the TV the announcers said “it’s another one for Rachel:yes: Alexandra”; is there a video available anywhere?
