Actually it ended up not being that great after I got into it. It’s just those stupid little swivel cases that bounce around.
There is a place in Ocala that makes custom saddles and tack etc, I may take my saddle and stuff with me next time I go down there and see if they can build me something that will match. I might get a nice case made for my fencing pliers too while I’m there.
I hand mine from the breastplate but then I don’t use it much. The reason our staff uses the over the shoulder holsters is that they can use the radio without taking it out of a case or pocket or anything. It can be used on the run. Mine I have to take out of the case to use. I also have it anchored with a leather shoelace which is a lucky thing because last week the case broke and I felt the radio hitting my foot. I was able to get it back and use the case from a different attachement. It also would keep me from losing the radio if I accidently dropped it while trying to use it.
Our huntsman just uses the clip and a leather lanyard. That way she doesn’t have to take it out of the case. The lanyard helps keep it from getting lost but she still loses lots of them.
That’s where i Put mine too, on the breastplate. I can get to it and all, but I just don’t use the shoulder mike when I put it there since it would go from there to me and be awkward.
I’m thinking about getting a nicer case made for it to put on the breastplate where it won’t bounce around. I like my radio but the case sucks for what we do.
I wonder if there is a way to put it in the sandwich case and run the mike up? Might try that too, although with my radio (a smaller Motorola) it wouldn’t leave much room for my flask, drat.
Bluetooth Walkie-Talkies…
What about Bluetooth technology? Luddite myself, but SO suggests it may be worth looking into; fairly jiggle-proof, fairly robust, more discreet than a holster.
My suggestion is more ladylike; what about having the holster and harness made from red - or correctly pink or scarlet - leather, so they would be as useful, but less conspicuous?
That’s a great idea, but I’m hamstrung by the equipment that the hunt already had. So we are all using Motorolas.
