Rambo fly sheet causing tail rubs?

Has anyone had this issue? Sheet otherwise fits, but seems to be rubbing out the top of the tail, tail flap is not removable unfortunately. Any other fly sheets with similar fit & coverage that don’t rub tails? Maybe it’s just because it fits slightly long in the body?

The tail flap is removable. My younger horse removed his quite neatly. All I had to do was snip the last few stitches on one side and it was off.

Unless the. construction has changed, the flap is sewn on after the binding and it is fairly easy to rip that seam out.

Yes if it’s too long then the unlined portion of the sheet can rub it. I think recent Rambos have improved the design compared to older versions, but still possible if the rug is too big.

Sounds like the seam is just in the wrong place because the sheet is too big.

You can pop that seam super easy, and remove it. I’d try that, but be prepared to purchase a sheet that fits appropriately.

I cut it off of several for this reason.

Yes, they should have added a liner to the tail flap, for as much as the thing costs!! I had my local place sew one in and it was a game changer. That’s what I would recommend versus cutting off the tail flap.

My young horse rubbed the op of his tail off in a few days because of his Rambo fly sheet. :sob:

My fabulous friend gave me some moleskin sheets to stick along the seams and that appears to be working. His tail has started growing back, but it still looks horrible, like someone pulled it for dressage but was drinking while doing so.

I like the idea of a liner, though- maybe that is what I should do if the moleskin fails.

The newer ones have a liner in the tail flap. I did sell or get rid of all of my older ones without. But that doesn’t help if the body is a bit too long and the mesh part overlaps the tail.

When I took mine in to have the liner added, I made measurement markings where the sheet/tail flap was in relation to the tail so that I wouldn’t have that problem. I may have had the liner extend from a few inches before the tail flap, if I recall correctly. It worked beautifully!!!
