Rambo guarantee experience?

Anyone had any luck getting someone to honor the Rambo 3 year waterproofness guarantee?

Bought a sheet last fall, it needed a couple repairs so I cleaned it in cold water with Rambo blanket wash and now it is definitely NOT waterproof. I’m pretty disappointed.

I emailed the retailer but I’m not sure if it is the retailer or Horseware that would honor that guarantee.

Horseware has some info about it on their website but wants you to have REGISTERED your purchase within 90 days which I think it pretty ridiculous.

Just wondering if anyone had done this? I’m annoyed that a $250 sheet is no longer waterproof especially since I followed their directions on washing.

Yes, I had one turnout sheet fail pretty much as you describe (several years ago) and my retailer sent it back to Horseware and gave me a new one. The retailer was compensated by Horseware. It was no problem but YMMV.

I’ve never had a rambo lose its waterproofing in decades. I wash in cold water with baby shampoo and hang on line to dry. And I wash them a lot, all winter long.

I was sure to register my new blankets directly after purchase and also took pictures of all of the items codes, in case they aren’t legible later. My Rambos have always held up, but figured it was worth covering my hiney.

If you still have the receipt, that might help your case? They do ask for a copy when you register.

You could always just google for a phone number an call and ask. Usually retailers are pretty good about this especially dover where you can return anything.

I’ve always registered mine right away. When I did use the warranty the retailer asked for the blanket ID tag number - this was used when I registered it so they could check the database. Smartpak did give me a hard time for one of them though it was still under warranty and it was registered.

That being said…Rambos SUCK when it comes to staying waterproof. Five of mine have leaked completely through - all T/O sheets bought at different times from different places and different models and all made in Ireland and not China (some are nowadays). All were even washed in Rambo wash exactly as directed! A couple were past the three year mark despite being only used a year or two (old horse put down so I stored them properly after washing them and eventually pulled them out for my mare). Thankfully I bought all on sale.

I will never waste my money on a Rambo again.

I try to buy my blankets from Dover for this reason. They never question warranties as long as they can look it up via their system. With my Weatherbeeta I just walk in with my old sheet/blanket if its not waterproof or failed in some way and walk out with a new one. They get reimbursed by Weatherbeeta. I hate that they aren’t carrying pony sized Weatherbeetas anymore.

The retailer got back to me and said they need pics of the damage. Ummm… do you want me to leave it on the horse while it’s raining and then take pics of my wet horse?

They also said that they need a copy of the registration form I would have filled out. I’m filling it out now, but it’s definitely not within 90 days of purchase, and it’s online, so how would I copy that?

It’s NetEquestrian.com, by the way, that I am dealing with. Hopefully they come through.

I just wanted to update that NetEquestrian.com and Rambo did finally replace my sheet. It took about 2 months start to finish but it would have been $300 to replace the sheet so definitely worth it.

check you state laws about warranties as many do not let manufactures add exclusions such requiring a registration of the product s purchase …

In Massachusetts, all goods are covered by an implied warranty of merchantability, meaning the item must reasonably conform to an ordinary buyer’s expectation for a reasonable amount of time.

Glad you were able to get your rug, Ruth!

Something I found interesting in the terms of Rambo’s warranty:

If the blanket is bought at a discount you will receive a blanket of equal value to what was paid for the original purchase, or, if the blanket is bought as discontinued from the retailer, it is no longer covered under warranty.

So those discontinued colors that frequently go on deep discount actually don’t have a warranty at all?

check with your state AG office… unless it is expressively stated as being sold without warranty or is being sold by some odd source such as buying the horse blanket form a car dealer in most circumstances there will be the implied warranty of serviceability Just by selling at a discount does not remove the warranty liability

I’ve had two replaced in dealing with retailer. The site says for waterproof issues contact the retailer. I will always buy Rambo for this reason. I wash with Rambo was as directed and only once per season but we do get heavy rains to test them out from time to time. When it has happened to me, it’s always been at the belly seam and water has pooled at the bottom of the rug creating a water balloon almost.
