Ranch Pleasure Class?

My saddle club is going to be offering Ranch Pleasure. Has anyone done it? It looks very interesting -it’s got set patterns, but more like dressage they’re looking for variation within the gaits -extended lope, extended jog, etc., and forward in action.

I just did a Youtube search and found this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8EfzD_6iQk8

I have no idea what I’m looking at as to whether it’s any good, I just thought I’d post an example.

I’m intrigued.

Paula

It actually looks like a lot of fun. I’m with you in that I didn’t have a clue what the ride was supposed to look like, but I enjoyed watching the video you linked to.
Sheilah

I did it at the local level! It’s fun!!

You should have a horse that really moves out, is quiet, soft and looks like a horse that can get work done on a ranch. I have shown it once in AQHA and also a lot with ASHA. If you want to watch a near perfect ride, look up Mozaun Mckibben and Lil Ruf Catalyst.

I’m cleaning out my magazine stash and just last night I read an article in Western Horseman in which they talked about ranch pleasure. I think it sounds like fun.

Interested in selling some of said stash?

Sorry. I’m a clutter hater. When I say “stash,” I’m talking about the hideous overaccumulation of 4-5 months worth of 4 different magazines.

Nice job - and I love your horse’s color!

Thanks spotnnot & your horse is really nice mover. I see why it didnt search his horses name isnt on the video. Im thinking about doing this or else learning reined cow horse my horse is already a pro but their arent many cows around to work on so maybe RTP is easier? Cheaper? not to hijack the OP but Id love to see comments.

Yes. Which is why I am taking advantage of a few days off to go through and make sure I’ve read everything I wanted to before I toss them in the recycle bin, because the big pile of unread magazines was driving me nuts.

When you asked if the stash was for sale, I assumed you thought I meant that I had years of back issues and you were interested in those.

Thanks! He is so awesome and I am very lucky! I LOVE reined cowhorse! It is more expensive than ranch pleasure. Also, access to cows is important. Where do you live? Check out the American Stock Horse Association, www.americanstockhorse.org. Great organization, great people and really fun shows! Also, the American Ranch Horse Association.

No, I am an FFA advisor and January and February are full of dairy shows and I have six kids showing nine heifers. Even if it is on a free weekend at some point in time I have to introduce myself to my husband again.

I am wanting to do this class as it looks like a lot of fun, maybe the next time.
