Random Question of the Day-Favorite Stallions?

Okay guys! I have decided to do a random question of the day-cause why not?

Here’s today’s-who is your favorite stallion of all time? Any breed, time, or discipline, other than the well known ones like Rio Grande or Valegro.

My favorite is UB40. What’s yours?

Argentinus

He is a great producer but his dang frozen is crap and $$$$

I also like Balou Du Rouet. I bred to him a few years ago but the mare didn’t take :frowning:

I love Plot Blue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hnGd7rV-lc

I love Casall too, it is just so easy for him to jump around the biggest tracks.

Walter Farley’s The Black Stallion! You didn’t say he had to be real.

so far Wertherson and Argus tie for my fav. real stallion.

We really like Tantris, an Oldenburg, have used him three times with excellent results on our Partbred Cleveland Bay mares. He had excellent scores from his 100-Day testing, using the old-fashioned European test. Husband loved his movement. Our resulting foals, all are nice minded, terrific workers with excellent gaits. FUN horses to own and use, along with being very capable of any type discipline you would aim them at.

Lot of older bloodlines up close in Tantris, which other stallions advertise as being in their pedigree a few generations back.

His owner was excellent to work with on shipments. His semen (fresh) was as good as advertised, very high quality per our Vet. Our mares got in foal easily using his semen.

Well, you didn’t mention they had to be warmbloods…

Alive and standing, a current COTHER pointed me in the direction of Musketier (TB) who I like…

The more I work with various OTTBs, the more I like Private Account get. And Say Florida Sandy. I’m sad, SFS is a late discovery for me and is no longer breeding… but I keep in contact with a few owners of his progeny and they all have the same type - big, correct, good movers, good brain, and BAY!

My favorite stallion of all time though, probably has to be Buckpasser. There is just something about his face and body I love - and I’m consistently time and time drawn to horses that are very prepotent with his blood. I wish I was alive when he was racing, he must have been a wonderful horse to witness.

In no particular order, I also seem to really like AP Indy (Slew), Freud, Sadlers Wells, Dixieland Band, My Babu, Sword Dancer and Nijinsky horses.

On the warmblood side, I like Schroeder’s type. Tatendrag. AFR (xx and retired) and Sea Accounts… though I haven’t worked with any of their progeny so can’t really say much. I enjoy reading and researching stallions when I’m bored, but I don’t have a lot of boy crushes… maybe because I don’t have a mare.

Count Fleet. He was an exceptionally gorgeous Thoroughbred and an exceptional sire. And he lived to be 33!

I also adore my mare’s grandsire, Skip Trial; and his grandsire, Damascus.

The Arabian stallion Fadjur (Fadheilan x Bint Sahara). He was a blend of old Egyptian, old Polish, Egyptian-Blunt, Hamadie and with the Davenport *Wadduda dam line.

Way back in the 1960’s he was very popular.

Contender. What a mark he made! I also loved his son Contango from when he was imported. A jumper bred stallion with the movement for Dressage? And then he went to GP? Loved it.

Rubinstein - sired a dynasty!

Furioso - loser race horse who also sired a dynasty!

Valegro is a gelding.

I always loved A Fine Romance.

Sir Ivor and A Fine Romance for me, but possibly both qualify as “well known ones”.

Northern Dancer

Mill Reef

Witez II

I haven’t personally known all that many of his kids, but my favorite stallion that I’ve ever met/cared for was the standardbred stallion Artsplace.

That horse was just amazing in every way! I hope I can still get my hands on one of his sons or daughters one day, I just haven’t had an “opening” in my herd for an extra horse.

I know he’s a gelding, it was an example of a famous horse. Another of my favorites is Cor de la Bryre, he is my baby’s grandsire.
