Oh my ! Why?
Though would be curious to see an after picture to see how much mane and tail they take off. But that seriously seems like the hard way to do that.
From photogs view some of those pics are very cool. But not horse lovers at all.
P.
I saw this in the paper the other day and had the exact same reaction: why??
De-lousing according to a quick bit of research. Much easier to kill the buggers with less hair for them to crawl around in.
This is what my horse sees in her head when I take out the pulling comb.
from what I recall, the herd is living feral in the mountains.
Once a year they are driven in to town and stripped of the long hair, then returned to the range.
Back in the day horse hair fetched a good price for stuffing furniture, nowadays, I could not tell.
All in all, a few hours of inconvenience to be left alone for the rest of the year, so what.
it could be done less dramatic, I am sure.
