Re-rider seeking tall boot recommendations!

I was hoping to pull on the vast Coth knowledge to help me find a new pair of tall boots. There are so many new options out there, and not a lot of articles about the new synthetic materials. I am looking for something around $150, that will take a beating and still look decent. Not too picky on dress vs field. Is the new synthetic leather plastic feeling? I live in a non horse area, so there is sadly no Dover I can run over to in order to feel them. Are there certain brands known for stronger zippers? Comfort?
Thank you in advance, the options are astounding!
Here are some of the options I was able to find,

Google sales for tall boots. You will find many name brand leather boots with zippers on sale. I wear Ariat, get the best fit from them but Mountsin Horse are really nice.

I heard the Mountain Horse boots (your last link) are pretty nice.

I have the Tredstep Donatello Field Boots, which are $180 right now on Dover. A lot of ladies at my barn also school in them. They look nice (exceptional quality for the price, and suitable for smaller/local A shows) and have held up well to frequent schooling.

Tack of the Day has Mountain Horse Fiorentina (?sp) boots on sale. I have a pair they are quite nice… they are a spare so I cannot speak to how they last etc. They are on clearance so very very affordable.

Get a pair that are comfortable from the start. The American obsession with really uncomfortable boots that require months of pain to break in is deeply puzzling to other nations. Also look at UK websites as the same boots are often cheaper, even with postage.

Although TuffRider breeches are super quality for the price, I would stay away from their boots. I bought a pair on a screaming deal for schooling in and still think I paid too much.

I really liked the Tredsteps and a lot of friends have them, but ended up getting a pair of Mountain Horse Victoria because they fit like custom for me. Your best bet is to shop the closeouts (Tack of the Day also) if you want to stay under $150 though.

You may also consider eBay or the FB tack pages - you may find a nice pair of used boots in your price range.

I would not recommend any synthetic boots that ive seen, except maybe winter boots. I can’t imagine them lasting well and I think they are a cheapie option if you need tall.boots in a hurry for a kids show.

Tech fibres are all over high end shirts breeches and jackets but everyone wears leather boots.

You might find paddock boots and half chaps more affordable or easier to fit or more comfortable, especially if you buy new paddock boots but score a good deal on used half chaos which are not nearly as icky as wearing someone else’s used shoes!

If you have nonstandard calves  pay attention to calf measurement as well as foot. If you find many fashion knee high boots too tight in the calf to zip up you will want a wide calf in a riding boot.

When I got back into riding seriously after many years away, I had my first encounter with half-chaps. There was no such thing as half-chaps back in the Stone Age when I was riding seriously. Half-chaps, it turns out, are a wondrous invention. A thing of comfort and economy. I may never own a pair of tall boots again.

Until you reach the point where you’re ready to enter the show ring at a level where nice paddock boots + nice half-chaps aren’t appropriate, I’d not bother with tall boots.

Thank you all for your help and recommendations! I will be showing and hunting, so unfortunately half chaps (which I do wear for schooling) won’t cut it. I was hoping this new fake leather was leaps and bounds better than what I had experienced in the past, but looks like I should stick with leather. Tack of the day was the first place I searched, but unfortunately they only had a size 9.5 W left.
I think the mountain horse ones will be the winner,
Thanks again!
