really long user names messing up my display

Is there anything I can do to prevent the really long user names from messing up the display? The problem comes when the person with the really long name is the most recent poster on a thread. (The one that’s been causing problems for me right now is one_star_…, in case it matters). Thanks – Jess

ps. Running Safari on a Mac.

Hey, I don’t like to be known as a trouble maker who causes problems for anyone…

I’m just trying to figure out how to get around the problem, hopefully by changing some of my settings in the User CP or something. I couldn’t figure it out, so posted here. If you want to solve my problem for me  I’ll be thrilled. If you know what I can do to solve it myself, ditto. But otherwise, don’t mind my trying to get answers from someone else! --Jess

There’s nothing in the User CP that would help… how does it ‘mess up’ your screen? When there is a long user name in the last post area, for me that area just gets larger, and the area where the thread name is listed gets shorter. Might be a browser setting to do with the display of tables/wrapping text to the next line or you may need to increase your screen resolution in order to see more of the page at once. I can help you with any PC issue but someone else will have to tell you how, or if it is even possible, it do those things on a Mac.

Thanks, furlong. The width of the columns change up to a fixed point and then the user names are wrapping around the “cell.” Things aren’t aligned quite right making it hard to click on the post that I intended. I think I may have fixed it by messing with the resolution of my display (which I usually leave fairly large because otherwise hooking up the computer to a projector doesn’t go well.) We’ll see the next time there’s a really long name in the “last post” category  --Jess
