Recognized western dressage shows, not online

Our GMO is being asked to look into putting on a recognized western dressage show. We do include western dressage in our summer schooling shows, but we don’t know anything about recognized shows.

Where I can find information about recognized western dressage shows? I looked on the WDAA website and saw only virtual shows. Is this the only format, or are there actual shows?

Thanks for any information you can provide.

I think shows for next year are still being planned. The WDAA site has a drop down that has a information how to get a show recognized. Hope that helps

Just send them an email with your questions. They are a very encouraging organization who want to encourage new opportunities! They absolutely hold recognized in person shows.

Thank you!

There are both in person and online shows.

In person shows can be schooling shows, WDAA rated or USEF/WDAA rated.

Online shows are never USEF/WDAA rated but I think a few are WDAA only rated.

It’s pretty easy to host a WDAA rated show. The rules aren’t very difficult.

I’m happy to help if you want to send me a PM but the most basic thing is you need a WDAA approved (USEF WD judge), WDAA licensing fee, and a bit checker to meet their standards. WDAA membership is required for most classes with a few exceptions.

If you want to host a USEF/WDAA rated events it gets more complicated and you would need a C2 Steward.
