It’s that time of year! Ok, not really, but I am planning ahead.

You are not allowed to bring this up yet!
Mountain horse are good, if you must have a recommendation.
I am wanting to follow this also-best riding winter boots, but also, what about barn boots for chores and mucking around? (Not trying to hjack thread! I promise! )
Starting to think about it as well. I have big feet (size 10.5 mens in Ariat) and just can’t find anything to fit.
I wear a women’s 11. I have had a pair of Dafna /Ovation Blizzard boots for a few years. They have a rubber, water proof foot, grippy sole & they are warm.
Not terribly attractive, but they wear well & are very affordable (<60$). You need to order now, because after December they are all gone…
Depending on your foot size, you may need to get larger stirrups if you wear them riding.
I hated my Mountain Horse boots. They weren’t warm enough and they didn’t last. Other people at my barn have had similar experiences with them.
Last year I got a pair of White’s boots. I freakin love them! Warm, waterproof, and sturdy. Plus they are shaped properly for riding. Win!
Love my mountain horse ice riders. With smart wool socks. Socks make all the difference. MH rimfrosts are warmer but bulkier.
I have the Mountain Horse Rimfrosts and they are nowhere near as warm as my Muck Boot Brit Colts. The zipper on the Rimfrost Riders also leaks in wet snow. I ride whenever it is -10degC or better, but still have to muck regardless of -30 to -40 deg temps, and wouldn’t give up my Muck Brit Colts for anything.
I have these Ariat boots and LOVE them:

They’re super comfy and warm. They are shorter than a tall boot, so they basically replace paddock boots and half chaps for me in cold weather.
I have a friend with the Mountain Horse winter boots and they look so thick/stiff/uncomfortable. She doesn’t care much for them, but they work.
I wear the Mudruckers tall boot for barn work. I find them plenty warm when I’m moving around doing stuff, and they last for years!
Ariat Bromonts, hands down.
