Recommendation for concrete floor sealant? Anti-dust magic? Mice?

Enclosed tack room has two issues, hoping to read some success stories about each.

  1. Concrete floor - it’s nice that it’s not dirt, but it IS dusty. No seal or anything on it - do you have recommendations for a seal or a paint?

  2. Where DO the mice come from? Any suggestions other than a cat or mechanical traps? Just get a pest company?

Storks are migratory, which means they could technically be delivering the baby mice from some far away, mystical land.

As for the floor… look at some of garage floor paints that are rubberized based

Any brand recommendations? SO many out there!

Thanks! I should mention the floor has a broom texture - or something - it’s not smooth concrete

the rubberized paint should work, if it is a ruff broom finish you could skim coat a thin layer of concrete over the floor to provide a smoother finish, more work however.

If paint is not a good idea a sealant could be sprayed on

garage paint is a great inexpensive option. If you want something that will look really nice, how about a pad and then laminate flooring on top?

our tack room is tile and I love it, though not the color. But the tiles look nice, don’t scratch up, but are easy to keep clean and don’t get water damaged when the sink over-flows, the washer seal breaks, or the turnout sheets gets dumped in a pile waiting for their wash. I don’t know if you can lay tile directly over cement or not, but if so, that’s a nice, low maintenance option.

Mice can squeeze through a hole the diameter of a pencil, so they can get just about anywhere that’s not airtight.

Not sure if you consider an electronic trap to be mechanical, but we use these and they work great for us. No need to touch the mouse!

Yeah, trying to find out how they are getting in, in the first place, to make their love nests LOL

I’ll second the victor zapper. No guts, easy to empty without touching the mouse and it looks like they go pretty fast. Just remember to empty it regularly.

It sounds good, but would also love to figure out root cause on how they get in… no holes found so far
