Recommendations for barn lighting

How high will the lights be hung? Makes a difference in how many you need and how bright they should be.

I will make an odd suggestion, if you have WIFI that can reach your barn or add a plug near where the WIFI comes in so you can add an extender you will never regret it. I have WIFI in my barn an can have cameras where I need them and also bought a WIFI timer for my fans and lights. It’s super convenient to turn fans on from work or lights on at night just from my phone!

I will check. I would be VERY surprised if the WiFi reaches with or without an extender.

I guess I will be needing these threads in a few years. My barn has fluorescent lights which you can no longer buy the bulbs at Lowes or Home Depot. You can only mail order them. OMG the shipping! Just buying one 15 bulb pack - the shipping was greater than the cost of the bulbs. Mine have mostly burned out so I have to get more. I got enough to last a few years and then I am changing out the lighting. Getting an electrician is just not doable right now. But I am sure not paying those prices next time they all burn out.

So if you are putting in lighting - make sure it will not be obsolete in a few years. Might cost a little more up front but probably not long term.

SusanO I’m in northeastern Massachusetts. If you’re anywhere nearby PM me and I’ll give you 4 and 8 footers. Quite a few!

No I am in Alabama. Would love to have them but the diesel fuel to come get them would not make the trip cost effective :grinning:. That is nice of you to offer though!

OMG no kidding! I installed a mesh wifi system specifically to get wifi in the barn. Before, it crapped out right at the front doors. It’s SO NICE to have a full wifi signal throughout!! Not an odd suggestion at all

Not odd at all. I just ran wired internet to my barn for my office and a camera system. I use an extender on the backside and have WiFi in most of my turnout sheds now as well.
